Why Platte County

Strategic Location

Platte County is served by several major highways, including Interstate 25, Wyoming’s only north-south interstate and U.S. Highway 26, a major east-west artery. In addition, Wyoming State Highway 34 runs from central Platte County to U.S. Highway 30, just north of Laramie, and Wyoming State Highway 270 connects Guernsey and Hartville with U.S. Highway 18/20, another major east-west highway.

Our five communities are roughly three hours from Denver International airport, one of the nation’s busiest commercial airports, and smaller airports in Cheyenne and Casper are roughly an hour by automobile.

We are also within 90 minutes of four colleges and universities. The University of Wyoming, Wyoming’s only four year college, is just 80 miles from Wheatland, while smaller community colleges in Casper, Torrington and Cheyenne are within an hour of most of our residents.
